Ths minutes of tbe meetings held Monday and Tuesday .of ibis . week were read. Mr. : Williims objected to the minute book showing what Commissioners voted for Biddie In tbe election of chairman as the votes were cast by ballot. The objection "was sustained aad the clerk wa ins'ructed to correct the minutes. Upon motion of Mr. William tbe minutes as corrected were adopted.; V , Tbeie were some discussion as to whose business It was to examine the re port of the Clerk of the Superior Court Mr. Williams sattl that it wa tbe duty of the Solicitor to examine the Clerk' report and that the Commissioner had nothing to do with it. It was decided to refer the matter to the properprson. Mr. Williams as chairman of the com roUtes on bridges and ferries on the' former Board made a report in which he saidi "I want to stale to the Board that W H Ellison, the ferryman at Street's ferry, was in town Saturday on a spree sod was in the station house. The flat t the ferry is, or wa, aground and there wa no crossing there. There is another flat at Meadows' ways which was sunk in tbe dock but I had it raised. I wanted tj notify the Board of this as I have in the past" spent money out -of my own pocket for the convenience of the people me to serve as Commissi iter on this Board. In regard to the ferries I think; that the people ought to be sccommo dtted. I would suggest the propriety of taking the chain fro n Nelson' ferry and carrying. It to Street' ferry, From now on I will sil here and look out for the people until the Democrat put us out. 1 think that tbey will strike us like a cyclone between now snd sometime about the first of January. The amend ment was accepted and the motion passed. J W Bowdea presented' his bond which W accepted and he took the osth required of tba wood Inspector. Mr Williams made a motion to tbe ef fect tbat poll holders and registrars be allowed 1JU per day and tbat the clerk be instructed to make np tbe bills for the same and present them at the next meet- ins of the Board when vouchers will be issued therefor. Tbe motion passed. Mr Williams read an application for the office of standard keeper from James Dudley. R G Moaeley moved that the application be referred to the meet in on the 13th of December. Motion serried. Rayner Perry upon submitting a cerii Scale of phyeicisii saying that be wa under disability to work the publto road was excused by the board from sucb duty.
